It can't be just here..... over the last few years I have noticed more and more people going to the mountains especially in the snow. It used to be just mountain men and women driving in snow in the mountains and everyone knew the truck going up has the right away. Now it's full of city slickers who don't yield to the truck going uphill. Or another I've been seeing is they park but yet their vehicle is still partially blocking the road.

Saturday was the worst I've ever seen. We went for Christmas trees. People would make us (my truck and my brothers at times another truck) stop while we're going uphill. 2 trucks going downhill pulling someone on a snowboard going downhill between them, teen on 4 wheeler going downhill played chicken with 3 trucks I was lead in a 3 truck convoy. 2 trucks and a Subaru were sticking out and doors wide open blocking the road. Keep in mind 1-3' snow was on the roads. I think in the 25 snow covered miles mountain roads and dzs of trucks we passed maybe a handful yielded to trucks going uphill. Those were just a few examples.

Does the Forest Service need to add signs saying yield to uphill vehicles along popular forest roads? What do you think would help educate people?

I hate that it is that way, but I think Danny is probably on the right track.

In Wyoming last summer I saw that exact sign for the first time. In Colorado a couple years before no signs but there was no yielding to up hill traffic at all. No common sense anymore.

Just passin through

Talked with g &f to see if this topic is covered in their mandatory ohv course for kids. He said no, it's not a law but more common sense which is lacking these days. We talked about various ideas to help this.

That's interesting Scuba. Haven't heard of that one yet. Maybe solar power. Maybe someone will take it out before the state wants a a tax increase to install on bridges lol.

It could also have been that someone rant that sign over because the road was iced over. Who knows??

I during the driving test the examiner told the person taking the test that bridges ice over before roads do. and get them to sign a bit of paper that they have been told, We could save millions in tax money just by not putting two of those sign on every bloody bridge ya get to.
Instead of some out of the box thinking like that ..Pothole Pete found out that roads are racist

I watch my mirrors. if its drizzly, snowy, or whatever, and the roads are wet, when you get ice on your exterior mirrors the bridges are freezing too. You tell can wet from ice on the road by watching to see spray off other vehicles tires. No spray then take your foot off the throttle and slow down easy. If it looks wet and no spray its bad slick.

Your a professional Danny but even beyond that we have a couple of generations coming up who just do NOT care.
It goes back to your entitlement mindset theory I really do think.
