Here's the link of the debt clock... US Debt ClockCan anyone explain the new part of it in the lower left hand corner? Specifically the USA Treasury Dollars in 2025 (keeps going up) and the US M2 Money Supply (keeps going down). How are they related? Thanks for chiming in Steven! I for one sure appreciate your insight. Did you see my post earlier about M2 money and US Treasury bills on the Debt Clock? I've been trying to figure out how they are related and what it means. I can't wrap my mind around it, but reckon its important if they put it on there. Please explain if you have the time. Chancey

I honestly do believe whiskey would be more valuable than gold in an end of the world type scenario. Even non-drinkers would want it for medicinal purposes. Silver and gold, however, would be easier to transport.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

Sitting on 80 grams of gold fever medicine. Have sold over 20k worth of it over the last 5 years. Most profitable hobby I have found for sure If you don't mind m e asking, how much under spot do you get for your fine stuff? I might be interested in purchasing it. PM if you'd like. The local gold mart in the town I used bought it for 80-85% but I metal detect, so more appealing to the buyer than stuff cleaned out of a sluice. The gold content in that area is 87-91% pure. If I was selling clean fine gold, I d expect less. All those pieces were one large gold quartz specimen. I have been holding a hand full of quartz with gold trying to find a buyer, but after countless jerks giving offensive offers I smashed them up and melted them down. So I have one button at 38 and another at 42 grams. They are still only 87-91% pure, but at least the next time I go to sell it I won't hear, oh I don't know how much is there, will you take 700.

Silver and gold, however, would be easier to transport. It's not hard to make whiskey. In reality silver isn't that easy to transport, it's heavy In today's prices you can carry 50,000 worth of gold in one hand, it would take a wheel barrow to haul that much silver. Chancey, yes I did miss this thread earlier, to answer your question. I'm not sure. Keep watching the money supply, less dollars chasing more goods equals deflation. The FED won't allow that to happen much longer. The trick is when to pivot, too soon and hyperinflation could be at our door.

Plenty of lead for sale by individuals, a buck a pound is spot price and they are asking 2 - 250. I see silver for sale the same way. Asking more than spot price. Have had several people get upset when I offer spot price for both so I quit asking. If you want to buy silver or gold at spot price you will have to do it through a peer to peer transaction. The precious metal stores are buying at spot or above and they need to make a profit.

I think gold/silver prices say lots about what is going on with the world economy. Really no different than gasoline/diesel/food cost threads...most people are not trying to make $ on those things and they comment on them all the time.

I think the industrial use of gold is limited,yet lots of new gold comes out of the ground every year. Every time a new large gold deposit is discovered and developed local economies are enriched.Last one here seen home prices jump 40% basically overnight and lots of brand new pic ups all over the place.Not to mention all the toys. Must be lots of gold hoarding going on somewhere.

I definitely use food/gas daily and I do not use gold daily but I posted this with no interest in making/trying to make $ from gold....gold/silver is really not a big money maker compared to other things yet I check the prices daily.
But, I do not 'think' like most other people anyway....
You make good points, thou.

[quote=spjones]Gotcha
I’m not a gold bug
Seems like people comment on food/fuel prices cuz they use/need them daily
Gold not so much
[/quot
With the value of the.dollar becoming less.and less on a.daily basis, the cost of everything goes up. Everything still has the same value in life, it just takes more dollars to buy. If a person has some monetary wealth in savings that is devaluing on a daily rate, changing that money to gold will preserve it's value better. At least history of 1000's of years has been this way. Insurance against devaluation of savings based in dollar's and every other fiat currency in the world that is in debt. If a person is living pay check to pay check. Month to month with little cash savings, gold probably is not needed. OR, spending habits need rethought. ( debt for unneeded luxury items) Tangible gold is insurance, gold related stocks are investments. When, not if, the value of the U.S. dollar gets to zero, (getting close)and our medium of exchange is something other than dollars, the value of precious metals should become more evident when buying food / fuel and every other item needed in life.
