I ordered my wife a purse, and just noticed it's made of "vegan leather."

Anyone know what that is?

James if I ordered leather and got vegan leather I would probably return it. If it does not matter to you what it is made out of (more importantly the wife) and you don't feel duped then keep it.

Vegan leather is just a fancy name for Chinesium plastic crap.

IT's replace the naugahyde of the 70's, you know, since the nauga is extinct now.

Vegan is one of those terms where if you say it first you can follow it with anything and it is accepted by the PC public as a substitute for that thing but it is not that thing.

I suppose there's the ethical choice of not using genuine leather thereby saving a cow. By saving the cow you've increased bovine flatulence disturbing the delicate balance in our atmosphere. But then there's the carbon emissions that go along with making faux leather.

Now I'm conflicted.

Kill the cow, eat the cow. Tan the leather. Raise another cow.

Vegans are a hoot! My wife makes a fruit popsicle sweetened with honey which she sells at our farmers market. I've been asked by vegans why don't we sweeten with sugar instead? Since they can't consume honey....which was made from enslaved bees.
