We have them in our off-grid camp and love them I have replaced one in about 4 years. I also found some that mount on the stove pipe and they move a lot more air, probably twice as much. They work great on regular stove pipe and not on the insulated pipe. I can tell when my stove needs wood much quicker by the stove pipe mounted fans than the one sitting on top of the wood stove. I think if you could get the stove pipe mounted fans you would be impressed with how much faster they spin and move so much more air. I have three on my stove pipe and one on top of the stove.

Are your pipe fans the 5 blade ones around $30.00? Mounting on pipe would sure keep it up out of the way for my top loader.

Trapset yes they are. I was just looking on Amazon and they have a tripple fan in one unit for $45. I belive they only fit on a 6" stove pipe. The best placement for the unit is about 19-20" above the stove. We can feel the heat from 24' away in the corner of the camp now. before the stove pipe fans it was always cool in the corner. I highly recommend them.

They do work, however subtly. Might try blowing out under the heat strip on the bottom. Could have crud from rust or soot in there, happened to me.

I do know if you put your stove top fan on the hottest part of the stove directly over the fire, they won’t last long as it’s too hot there. They’re are supposed to be on the edge of the stove not in the center. You can also buy replacement components and rebuild them it not sure it’s worth it

I wired in a 20" box fan up with a magnetic thermostat, that sticks on the stove. It kicks on at about 200 degrees and kicks off at about 190. I have one of those small heat run three blade, but I can't say it moves much air. Those magnetic thermostats are about $10.
