Called b.s. when this story hit monthes ago and still do.
That number of coyotes would have torn that dog to shreds.

That’s a neat story, but I’ve been around too many guard dogs, sheep, and coyotes to believe it all. I’m sure he’s a fine dog and has tussled with a few coyotes, but to kill 8 seems a bit embellished. And how do they know there were 11 total? I’ve seen coyotes through binoculars work around guard dogs undetected and then out pace the dogs with minimal effort once detected. I’m not buying it.

I don't think they found 8 dead coyote going from memory when this broke. Was a lot of hole filled in the wasy they wanted them to be. Could have just been the article I read though?

Edit. This article said they found 8 dead ones. Only thing I would bet on is the pups his female was pregnant with at the time sold fast and at a high price .

Probably a go fund me set up for the "vet bills".

A flat out frog story.

If I recall correctly, the dog left the sheep to pursue these coyotes. Leaving its' charges to pursue is never a welcome trait in a LGD. One positive attribute is to engage and drive attackers off ... quite another to leave its' charges unprotected to further pursue after the threat has retreated.

Around here, most of the sheep folks are from Austin or transplants from California and they think those dogs are the golden ticket for coyotes.
IMO, those dogs kill more sheep than the coyotes do.

Coyotes don't come within 300 yds of my ten acres. A good dog is priceless.

Depends on type of dog ? All at once no way be like 8 men jumping one man he’s not going to win in my opinion but who knows

Bet that killer K9 crapped coyote hair for a month.

I don't believe it either. They won't leave the flock and coyotes don't bother the flock when these dogs are there.
