With the dry summer we had a bumper crop of grouse here.
Also loads of cats,and no shortage of fisher or marten.
Maybe you guys will have similar,hope you fill your quotas.
Looking forward to pics.

I haven't Shot a grouse in 20 yrs

Sad to say it's the same here.

When I was younger I would shoot lots of Ruffed grouse,lately I shoot 1 to 5 per year,I'm up to two this year,they sure taste good.My friend and his son shoot quite a few each year,he saves them for me to use the left overs for bobcat and marten bait.

Just got back from checking a couple baits that I hadn't got to yesterday,2 cats and a marten tracks in the shade of the woods.Replaced one bait that was gone wolves or bobcat???Look's like we might get up to an inch of snow by Saturday afternoon,finishing up everything counting traps,locations,snares and marten boxes 120's and 155's.Picking out what lures will be used Gusto,Canine call,-40 below,Cat Man Do,Grawes cat #2 and Fascination, Sierra mist and Voo Doo.Saturday will be a good and busy day,about 20 foothold on drags,2 dozen or more snare's and 11 to 13 marten boxes.

Is this earlier season good or bad?The older season 1st Sat after Thanksgiving was too early,the last few years the heavy deep snow has caused problem,of course this year we will be lucky to even have snow.Other than the kids not on a school break I kind of like this mid season start,quite a few locations that I snare are combo location mainly coyote and fox,but I know if I set them before cat season there will be a dead cat waiting for me.Again safe travel for people heading north or east and good luck to all.Look forward to seeing some catch pictures by Sun,Mon.

No doubt Scott, if you don't at least get a cat and/or martin I know you'll have fun and maybe even learn a thing or two! Wish I was going along with you two!

Looks like we will get some snow coming for the weekend, 1 to 3" by Sat mid morning blustery winds could go without that, 20 to 40 mph.

I am going to put out a handful of sets close to home but that is it. No snow and "warm" temps will make things tough. I am going to try to take a few more beaver this week and I will work on taking the big Tom off my place this winter. I have time on my side for him.
