I still get excited to see a fox in a set. Can't wait to see your put up.
Congratulations and way to stick with it. It'll get easier with time and
Experience. When I was your age we left the ear cartilage in
now I take it out. Which way are you planning to do it?

I was very excited to see a fox in the trap rather than a coyote. I'm not going to be putting this one up as I would like to keep it nice. I'm going to take it to the guy who I sell all of my other fur, but he also sends all of my stuff I want to be tanned out to get tanned and he will put it up for me at whatever he charges. I don't know what way he does his but I'm sure I could do either way. It would be kind of cool to keep it in.

It is helping me figure out what combinations seem to work better.

There are foxes in my part of the country but the only one I have ever seen around my place was a red male that I killed in the chicken house one evening right after dark.

I have a notebook with me in the truck but I had relured this set and I couldn't remember what I used but from now on I'm going to keep a log. I've seen very few but apparently talking to a few other guys around here, they're around like crazy this year.

Thank you!, Yes it is, I should probably put in another set nearby in case a pair rolls through but I just ran out of time that day.

You may want to get in the same habit, detail what you do, what you use, timing, weather, results…just takes a minute. you may be surprised at the trends that suddenly jump out at you when you go thru those notes every now and again.
Keep after them!

I keep one with me in the truck but I always forget to write the stuff down in it. I mainly just put down how many traps I have and what bait mix I'm using for dps but definitely going to start doing it for K9 sets too.

Thank you! This was one of the hardest animals to catch. I have had a fur shed for 2 years but only used it to put up rats.
