Can't really read those lists. What if a coon gets in a wolf set? You have then caught it in an unapproved trap for coon. Doesn't that mean you are breaking the agreement?

And let's not be naive about the hole issue because sustainable harvest and certified fur is coming or already here. If any one follows forestry you know what I'm saying.

BandB it would be considered as an incidental catch. We have a 24hr check requirement for restraining traps on land. This is where killing sets like coniber traps and snares come into play for extended check times. Weather temperatures permitted. I'm sure Boco can explain it more in depth.

The list is pretty extensive as far as traps go and what is available for use. But of course we are not allowed to use anything with teeth. Been that way for years. The AIHTS implementation in my opinion has only benefited the trappers in Canada and the certification process being implemented is beneficial to the industry as a whole.

I believe the mink ranchers started all this certification and traceability of fur stuff. Actually, I believe it was the Danish mink farmers to protect themselves from EU wackos. They lost.

P.S. Most people don't use 1.5 longsprings for marten sets. They use 0's or 1's. In my opinion 0's are the best. Catch your finger, then you will understand. There are no leghold traps, they are footholds.

I have always advocated for the most humane regs and methods of trapping. I too participated in the BMP fisher study in NY.These studies were to appease the European decrees.
Sadly I was told what traps to use and they would not listen to my suggestions, by inexperienced know it alls.

I am always amazed at the Canadians that think what they do is best for every one. I am glad you think all the restrictions put on you are for your good.

50 years behind.
Why they lost ability to trap in half the states, and continue to lose trapping.

You Canuck loyalists can keep your agreements.

Fur may have made this continent, but it’s dead.

You've got to use the right touchy-feeley words like sustainable and certified and green these days. They don't actually mean anything, but they make the sensitive types feel better about themselves.

Like I said when the BMP testing was the hot topic. This will come back to bite us. That is the total design of it.
