Still learning here. What are you guys putting outside the trap for a lead in scent? What are you putting inside the trap for call lure ? Gland lure ? Do you add some type of meat ? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thx

Not actually setting for cats, but my son catches quite a few cats and fox with just a plain of ole egg in the back of the cage. As long as it can be seen your good.

I like carp, whole chicken, pigeon, collard doves, a chunk of beaver as baits. Wire it into the cage make them work for it. Flag near by gland lure in the back of the cage place leaves or dirt on the wire they walk in on.

The one on the left ate about all of an old rooster I used for bait.

I use a grouse, pheasant or cottontail as bait after I remove the breast meat on the birds. Spread a teaspoon of Grawes Fatcat on the bait and any of John Grahams cat lures about the cage.

Beaver meat, Bobcat Gland and Urine will work great for you.

Other bait options include Muskrat, Skunk, Bobcat etc all work as a meat bait.

If you're gonna use lots of smells make sure you do it in a calculated way and not over lap 700 smells. For example use one in front of the cage and the other from the lip of the cage in.
Put the glands/lure/ meat in the back.

By using one lead in scent from the cage forward and the other from the lip in, it will keep the cats interested and potentially when the cat gets to the cage there's a new smell that will peak his interest and pull him into the cage.

So just be smart on how you apply everything

Got one the other day with Lawimgs lead in scent, milligans cat-man-do in the back and just a feather hanging in the back of the cage. Good luck out there, caging critters is a lot of fun. I just got back from checking all my sets.
