Are you guys loving them? Thinking of making a change to dogless. Struggling a bit with whether to go the Alpha #2 or #3 route if I make the change. I'm not a mod guy so favor a trap thats pretty much ready to go out of the box.

I really like my ALPHA'S but then I also really like my MB550's. Different tools for different jobs.
Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I would mainly use them as a coyote and cat trap. That is for the one cat a year I’m allowed to keep here in PA. Also, in a pinch, as a beaver trap even though I don’t care for an offset on my beaver traps. I trap a fair amount in the snow so I am thinking the #3 may be a touch better.

I've only got a 1/2 dozen right not, but they work well. Easy to bed. One caveat, the springs got real weak in a hurry for some reason. Huh...Wonder why the springs got weak so fast? I'm no metallurgist, but it seems that could pose a serious problem. Anyone else with the same problem?

The Alpha 2’s are big enough for coyotes. If you can’t catch and hold them with the 2’s, I doubt the 3’s would make a difference. Agree. I was just thinking the 3 may help a bit in the snow being that it’s a touch bigger.

I have seen. And set = #3 Alpha. It seems like a good enough trap. BUT. For the price. I would go NO BS Extreme Wire Levers I would go with the no bs extremes wire levers or not.
Anyone that owns a gun and votes democrat deserves to have there gun taken, cause they truly are too stupid to own a gun.

I like them. But I don’t love them. However that is the case with basically every trap I’ve run from MB to Jakes. Each has some pros and cons including Alphas.
I just bought some additional Alphas used. I was unwilling to pay the price for the new ones. I don’t recall the original release price from 3 years ago but it wasn’t $330 a dozen. If I didn’t get these used I would have bought Bridgers or No Bs instead
Between 2 and 3 it’s just a matter or style of trapping and preference. They’ll both do job. They designed the original 3 with winter snow as a possibility. But that size also sucks up dry dirt so keep that in mind if that’s your thing Thank you for your reply....I've run 550's for the last several years and really like them until we get snow then I end up with toe catches or misses until I get the snow cleaned off.
