Good morning cooled down it's 13 above this morning,quite windy last night I hope the bobcat were on the prowl and the marten were looking for dinner.We are running out of days for Scott to catch his first marten.The moose burgers were excellent last night,eggs and deer/pork butt mix bacon for breakfast.Look's like a cool day 18 for the high,have a great day everyone,hope you can see spots and orange blazes and black cats where there are more fishers,good luck all.

A sub par breakfast Scott said,NOT!!!!!Very good and in about an hour we are going out to pick up some fur,my guess is 1 bobcat,1 marten,1 coyote,time will tell.Good luck Rob and others,how's it going for you and the grand kids Muskeg?

Good to hear Bill,I didn't go way back in to your old bear bait area for the last few year's that was good for 1 or 2 martens every year.I saw tire tracks yesterday going back in didn't know if it was you or Leland or another trapper.Hope you and the kids score on a couple more.

Not me. That is a good spot. I’m so limited on time I didn’t get to a lot of spots I’d like to go. Boys are excited with the catch so far so mission accomplished. Would like to get a cat and Fischer for them and call it good.

Seems like there are a few trappers out this year. I’ve skipped the last few years so not sure how much trapping has been going on down in the forest.

Bobcat and marten track soup kinda day.

one more morning check before I have to head south....Awesome sunny day today.

Day 3 a little movement last night but no catches,had two martens around sets today the one location was a proven cat spot so I use 3n's because the marten will usually trip them,couldn't tell if they went into the large cubby or not if they did they had to have miss the trap on the jump.So Scott is down to one more night,tomorrows check will hopefully have a marten for him.Have a good evening everyone,I'm thinking moose burger and spuds this evening for dinner.

Missed a marten today.
Trap held a nice weasel,marten came along and took out the 3 chunks of beaver and stashed them all nearby,I seen his tracks going back and forth from his cach holes,lol.
He will be in the trap next check in 3 or 4 days,heck he is likely in it already.

Marten are very predictable once they locate a good reliable food source.

You Minn boys know that marten work "on bankers hours" you had to know, at least 160 has it figured it out.

Thanks I not too worried I feel we will get his marten tonight,I have till Sunday to catch a marten or two,if not no problem I will be donating them to our tanned fur project.My plan is to try to get 3 bobcats maybe a limit ,but I have things to do before I head out to CA to work with the bee's after Christmas.

Hopefully Ricks Big foot Cat will be in his Trap tomorrow or soon
