So, I had a smaller one pull out of a rubber jawed Bridger 9 Sunday night. Cable anchored to a solid tree. I guess that’s why most recommend drags. Took 30 days to the day for one to commit to the gut pile
And I need more gear. I moved a snare to a different spot, and turns out he used that trail to enter the bait & leave. He would’ve been hanging there…..ahh well, trap & learn.

I can't believe ANYTHING could pull out of a Bridger #9!

I have nothing clever to put here.

It was a mess. Thought it may have been a crow, but the track leaving had a speck of blood in it every couple steps. I should’ve taken pics, the spot where the snare was golden. Not much snaps over the trap so it still should’ve grabbed high, maybe some debris or something slowed it? I’ll get the young fella yet, the fun’s just getting started on this educated canine.

IMO the Bridger Brawn is the worst wolf trap made too big and too slow,I'm surprised that it pulled out also.

Don't worry Shakey there are more, well plenty more of those Minn wolves headed your way.
The freezing rain on Friday night slowed the trap down on firing

I would suggest you get the ATA wolf trapping manual. It appears a class or two would also help.

The Bridger #9 is a speed demon compared to the Newhouse 4.5. I love Newhouse except for the 4.5. Toe catches are possible with any trap.

I'll take the Bridger 9 over the MB750 for the snow conditions here. Poor anchor idea on my part, but didn't think it'd pull out.

LOL....So you've changed your mind? Now it's your favorite book? And yea. it's in my collection. The demo's I've been to are utilizing some sort of drag system.

You need to bite the bullet and buy some #9 Alaskans. That Bridger is good for nothing but a boat anchor.
The Bridger is too heavy and too slow compared to the #9 Alaskan.

I know there's a difference in price but what does that matter if you can't catch anything with the Bridger?

Plenty of trappers in Alaska and Canada anchor to trees so wasn't the issue. I also find it hard to believe a wolf managed to pull out of bridger9 or that there was blood left. Kinda odd. I will agree the MB750 sucks in wet snow conditions!

This I know and I did not learn it from the ATA manual.

I would not know if the ATA manual is any good since I have not read it. That idea was suggested to me so just passing it a long. Since you have read it ? It did not work for ya eh ? Kind a figures.

I did a quick search and can’t find a supplier, but it’s not on Manitobas approved list anyways. The pan tension was pretty light, but like Northof50 said, we got freezing rain followed by snow on Friday. There was a speck of blood in every other step on the way out. Snaring the buggers is a lot easier, but I’d like to get one in a foot hold. I’m getting a few conflicting answers everywhere I’ve asked. What worked for some, may not work for others….or one bad experience with a trap (like this one..lol) and they’re finished. I’m gonna stick it out with the Bridgers for a bit longer. Once the snow really falls it’ll be full out snares.

So you didn’t read it, but felt confident enough to bash it on Tman, got hammered for it and felt shame….lol
