I'm looking to shoot some carp with a shotgun. I believe it's legal on the Illionois river. Does anyone know of a guide who does this? Thank You

I made a similar post on here, a decade or so back.

I was roundly criticized as reckless.

I still think it would be a blast, though.

I'd like to try it with one of these .22 LR arrow shooting guns

I’ve had the kids shoot them with bows on the fly here in our river. Not legal with gun or net yet. These idiots brag about how it’s “technically illegal” to even keep one that jumps in your boat as it’s not a “legal method of take, but don’t worry, no one would give you a ticket for it”. I told the CO “you should be embarrassed to even say that. If you can’t help the problem by taking the gloves off where this invasive species is concerned, at least stay outta the way!”

Reckless was bringing them over here. Now they’re getting in about any waterway they want.

When I was a kid, we hunted carp in our local crick all the time. Bows, pitch forks, spears, shotguns and.22 lr. It's a miracle I lived through that time. whistle

yes it is a real thing apparently I had not heard of it before.

it does look like fun
I would think steel shot since your on the water
but steel shot doesn't really go that far about out of steam inside 100 yards so making sure you kept >300 yard separation from another boat , house , dock ect..

doing it this way would not be legal in WI as we can't shoot from moving motorized boats

do you go pick them up with a net after or just let them lay? that was my question.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Might be fun, for those in the boat, maybe not so much for anybody on shore. Stupid is, as stupid does!
