Forgot to mention while we were gutting the elk we heard a wolf howl to N/NE towards the tree line. My brother and I tripped out because wolves are typically in Southern NM in the Gila. Knowing that a wolf was spotted near my unit just days before I told my brother and boys that's the wolf the news was talking about but didn't think it would be there on my hunt since wildlife is plentiful before my unit.

The next weekend my cousins had their cow hunt on the border of my unit but a different unit. They tagged out day 1 but had truck issues and had to leave camp as is but left with the cow. I took them to get camp broken down a few days later. Tons of elk deer and turkey tracks all over camp when we got there.

Come to find out G &F just captured that wolf close to where I hunted and around my cousins camp & relocated it.
