Three referees involved in a 4th grade basketball game got into a fight with each other in Colorado. It looked like a MMA fight involving boxing and grappling. Nice example for the 4th graders. They didn’t say what initiated the brawl although one referee appeared to bump into another one. I guess saying excuse me wasn’t good enough.

You have to post the video! I wouldn't say they really know how to fight. But anyway, another reason basketball sucks.

That's bad enough. BUT last Friday night at a grade school game near me this happened.8th grade game there was some handchecking going on. when one of the kids turned to go to the other end kid on opposing team got pushed accidentally and fell down.no fouls were called as it wasn't intentional. The father of the kid that fell down came out on the floor yelling at the kid that did it IAMGOING TO KILL YOU NUMBER 24.NEEDLESS TO SAY HE WAS EJECTED AND THE COPS WERE CALLED. I couldn't believe it!!!!

Years ago I was on the board of a youth sports league. Many Monday mornings were spent by our board deciding which parents to ban because of their behavior over the previous weekend.

We occasionally see parents and coaches get rowdy at wresting tournaments. That's in a different league. Especially the moms. But I always warn new dads to keep your cool because that little guy might have been a national champion from Oklahoma State.

As a parent of a kid involved in sports it is hard not to be protective of your kid when there are intentional actions that cause significant injury.

Why do you need 3 referees for a 4th grade basketball game ?

When you do a 3-man game, you dont ever want to go back to doing 2-man. Unless the money is really good. Most rec leagues are marathon days on the weekends so a ref might do 3 to as many as 10 games in a day. Think my record was 12. Having a third guy saves a lot of energy and provides better court coverage.

Not sure that this was necessarily a 3-man game, just might of been another official from a neighboring court coming over to break up the fight.
