This was a skunk set but this female coon didn't know that. She weighs 16.6 pounds. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/12/full-47394-200298-pxl_20231216_142808369.mp.jpg) Not much struggle according to the rr tie plate , it was on top of box.

I’ve had a problem with coon reaching into boxes with 110/120 size traps. Results are not pretty. Agreed. We found that boxes need to be over 16” deep and bottom of box needs to be 4”-5” off the ground to avoid the majority of reach in’s. Any space between bottom jaw and bottom of box should be filled with a wad of grass, bark or whatever’s handy. If not coons like to pull on bottom jaw. If you can get them to put their head in it, a 120 will kill a coon faster than a 220 imo.

Always surprises me they stick there into such a small hole, but yet get refusals in a 220. I think as long as the cubby is deep enough to avoid the reach, and actually gets bigger inside it helps cut down refusals a lot. I think it resembles a hole in an old barn wall or tree, small but open to larger inside.

She's wearin a mighty pretty coat too ! BTW, whats that white stuff at the slot on the box ? Baitin' with hog lard ? Thanks Nope, that white stuff is Elmer's wood glue that was to hold those 2 wood blocks in place so the springs would fit better. The old box must have been too porous for the glue to adhere good. Bait used was Law Dog's specialty CARP . She did have a beautiful hide on her.
