digging through some older stuff I had and came across an order I'd placed quite awhile ago...

found some of Dave's tonquin, civet, lovage and artificial muskrat musk. the lid of one of the jars of the muskrat musk is showing signs of corrosion.

now, to figure out its best use...

I’d put them on the shelf and when I look at them I’d think of Dave. Maybe crack the cap and sniff them every so often.

not a bad thought, Todd!

I only had a few conversations with Dave, but he was a memorable character, for sure!

Todd you are going to make Don into a crack head like the rest of us that already do that.

Did you check the expiration date? If you can’t find it, just send it to Warren county- I’ll figure it out for you and let you know- if it’s out of date I’ll dispose of and only charge you the disposal fee… laugh

I have never met anyone who had more passion for the lure making process than Dave. Larger than life character and personality when talking about lures.

I agree with Owl27....met Dave at a convention and he talked nothing but lures and the different chemicals involved. Smart guy and fun to be around always smiling.
I believe he made his own wine too and enjoyed making that too. Another good one gone.

Dave and I indulged in his home made wine when I would go visit him. He made some mighty fine tasting wine.

I was fortunate to end up with his 33 journals. They contain all his lure and essential oil recipes and the steps he took to develop them. He was very meticulous in recording the steps he took in building of his lures. A couple of his journals have beer recipes. He talked about opening a craft brewery, but never got around to it. He was a great guy who would keep you in stitches telling funny stories. I sure do miss him.

as a homebrewer, I'd love to try to re-create one of Dave's beer/ale recipes!
