I'm watching this deer for a couple of years now.
I've never hunted horns in my life.
I wanna target this deer.
No firearms allowed .
Start next year ?.
Or Would you wait 2-3 more years .
I want it to be at max potential .
I have a real chance at harvesting it.
I know that there will be only one time I will ever get close enough to harvest him.
I'm sure i will ever get another in its lifetime.

Here is this years photos he has a doe run up against the homes around the sanctuary.

Go after him. May or may not get bigger and may get hit by a car.

Best time to get him is when he is in range. If you wait he's liable to get hit by a car or someone else gets him.

I had this guy on camera. It got hit by a car and a taxidermy friend of mine mounted it.

Here our whitetails peak at nine years old. They rut so hard from year 4 to 7 that they tend to shrink a little or stand still. After 7 they seem to not rut as hard. I have taken several over the yeas that were nine years old and were sporting by far there biggest racks.

Hard to say for sure but it looks like a lot of white on his muzzle, so he maybe getting old.

You really don't know how old he is. It's kinda like playing the stock market.

No Way for anyone to answer that. Most bucks will never grow " big racks". Even with age.
Around here, a buck can be 130" as a 3 year old and stay that way for the next few years.
Kill him YOU like him.

This and general character of the face along with what appears to be a fairly broad muzzle makes me think the pictured deer is closer to the backside of his horn growing years then the frontside.

Btw...taking him legally with archery gear will be a feat...but it sure will be exciting.

I've always said, only shoot it if your happy with it, whether that's a doe, spike, 4 point etc. it's the only respectful thing to do.

Agree with everyone else. Smoke him. He's a shooter and his time is now.

A lot of it has to do with how much chance does he have of getting killed by another hunter or a car and what u consider a trophy. Round here a big buck doesn't seem to last but a year or two tops before someone killed him. Plus the older he gets the harder he is to kill and longer u wait the less chances you will get to kill him. For me if he's a trophy by my standards I'm going for it. The chance are in his favor and if I don't get him he'll be bigger the next year.

Yes Sir nailed it. A true trophy is what you consider one to be. If you like him, go get him, especially with a bow.

For some a 10 point is a trophy, for others, it is a very wide deer, for others it is BC score. Every one has their own definition of a trophy. If you like him, he's worth hunting. Especially if you are only going to have once chance to get him. Good luck!
