From the several drawings that are shown it is a given that he has talent .It as stated by someone that he is an introvert. Since when does that have to be considered. a character flaw . None of us know his background or life experiences I say it looks like he is good at drawing and I hope he continues to pursue that talent that will enrich is life That can be by earning money from doing it or just creating art that enriches his life and the lives of o9thers that enjoy his talent also

I do know him, he is one of my son’s best friends.

“He struggles”, he is viewed as an under achiever in his family circle and has at times expressed “things would be better if he checked out.” We have kind of unofficially adopted him and he knows the door is always open.

Hobbie That is great that you and your family have taken the chance to give him some positive influence and encouragement We all can use a pat on the back and when needed a kick in the pants .

No wonder he has issues to endure. It’s best he is away from that kind of dysfunctional input, relatives or not.

Thank you for offering him the side of life that is healthy and happy.

It is a hurdle to deal mentally with negative thoughts put on a young person’s talent . What he can do is forge ahead , with more determination in life , to succeed.

As a teen, I was told by a teacher , that I would never be successful in art . Her intent was good, but she approached it in the most wrong way.

A few years after I graduated, little did she know, that I was working for the best custom body shop in Miami, airbrushing muscle cahs, bike tanks and show vans . Riding the wave of when murals were popular, that spanned the whole sides of a vechile…. and making $ 400 a square foot . In the 70’s and 80's .

There’s a country western song that says in the chorus “ How do you like me now ?”

Same with this young man.

Absolutely amazing drawings. I couldn’t begin to understand how to draw something like that when I have trouble with stick figures……

Hobbie,
As a youth, my home life was horrific. If it wasn't for the fathers of a few of my friends selflessly taking me under their wing and encourage me, praise me when I did something praiseworthy, and lead me back on the right path when I straid, I would not have become the man that I am today.
It rubbed off on me and I have found myself paying all of that forward as an adult. I have spent a lot of time mentoring young people for many years, most of the time not even realizing it. That is what selfless means.
Trust me when I tell you (if you don't already know), you can and will have a positive impact on this young man's life. Its just a matter of when it kicks in for him.
Good on you brother.

52Carl I am similar to you in my younger days my adult family members did a better job of showing me how not to be And they where the shing star I saw what I did not want to be . When I was old enough to help others out when they needed some help And if I could do something to improve others lives I would try to do just that It seems to me helping those that need a little help
is one of the most meaningful ways we all can make the world a better place Besides if we truly love to hunt and fish and trap as we claim we do Than. it only makes sense that we should share that with other that want to same thing . Simple acts of kindness or a few kind words or words of encouragement and make a difference in many people's lives .

I guess tattooing is different than just drawing and one has to ease into it.

Here are his first attempts.

I’m not really a fan of tats so I don’t know if these are good or bad. I reckon as long as the folks that got them are happy with them that’s all that matters.

Can he make a career out of it?

Look pretty darned good if those are his first two. I have seen a heck of a lot worse.

I'd let him practice on me.

He sounds like he's shy. He shouldn't be with a talent like that. Wow!

It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.

They probably refer to him as an under achiever because he spends so much time with his drawings and not much else. It's sad that they can't see his potential. He needs to move on with his talent. It's great that he has someone like you Hobbie, to encourage him.

I don't care much for the hairy nipple-slip in the last pic...
I am really bothered by the fact that I even noticed it to begin with.
