I'm sure this has been asked before but I didn't see it. So I always check my otter and all traps every day. But this year I'm not able to, so how many days would a otter hide be fine under water? We have a four day check by law. That just seems like it's pushing it.

Your water should be plenty cold, I'd think as long as fully submerged, it should be good for a couple days, my $.02.

Good for 5 or 6 days easy under ice.

I accidentally left a trap one time just before ice up and found it about 5 weeks later.The beaver had fur slipping mostly on the thinner skinned areas but I cut the castor out and sold it.Matt Carlson told me if I kept the beaver cold they would last a month and he would buy them on carcass.

Even without ice otter will be good for 4-5 days under water in our area.
