It’s even worse around the dams. Lol. I generally don’t get too close too those houses except to admire they’re engineering skills. Did take a dip last week, they need to make neck high waders.

Started my little 9 trap trapline to help the local turkeys, the biggest coon was 25#. Both possums were caught in live traps[Linked Image]

Nice catch Wp!

pics from yesterday, ice was getting fairly soft, picked up a dozen rats in the new spot. Pulled traps from the first location as well. It was a workout pulling the sled back with no snow, may need to get a new jet sled after this season.
Set 15 more traps in the new spot today, probably should have set many more but I'll work the remainder of the week and check in the dark, temps look to be spring like by the weekend too!

Hope everyone continues to enjoy themselves out there!

I had 4 muskrat, a very nice buck mink and an ermine yesterday. Difficult trapping ermine when you have no snow and no sign.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

Hi Lance: The cold front must have had them moving. I caught a buck mink yesterday also. Only got a few sets out but will hit some new Creek sections this week. The bottom edge rats are coming slowly but surely. Seems to be beaver everywhere this fall.

Walt, It has been slowbut the cold front definitely helped. I'm up to 25 rats, 5 mink and a handful of beaver. Haven't really hit them hard yet. There does seem to be more beaver than there has been the last several years. Seems like the harder you trap them the larger the litters next spring. I do believe the bottom edge sets will work better when we get a little ice covering the top of the trap. That should happen this winter at some point, lol. Good luck on the new sections of creek.

Picked up another coyote today. This is the third one this week and finally one that looks OK

[Linked Image]

The second one was pretty wiry looking. But I've not seen one with hair quite this long. Some of the hair was over 8 inches long on the shoulders. The fur on the head was pretty poofy too making the ears look really short.

Doing a short body gripper coon line along some creeks and streams. With the warm spell coming maybe some coons will move. Setting trails but many looked pretty stale to me.

I’m really glad I had a tag for this ornery kitty as letting it go might have been interesting.29 pound male that’s been walking by my traps way to long.

Nice coyote Jordan and beautiful cat Mad Scientist. Good looking animals. Keep wacking the coyotes Jordan, we have way too many around. On one of my farms the other day the coyotes mauled a young calf.

Been a productive season for me so far. The put up of beaver hasn’t become much easier finally for me. I’ve started using my beaver knife to flesh otter and beaver and it has worked great vs my fleshing knife.
