If you’ve got them keep them inside and out of the weather/ direct sunlight. The short Menards buckets with Gamma lids are my go to waxed dirt buckets. I had a couple sitting outside this summer and they sun rotted quickly and one bucket was full of water the lid looked good on that one but it was a mess.

Had some issues in the past with the O rings not staying in place they just expand and fell off. The ones I store inside I have no problems with but I’m not happy with using them in the field for very long. Now I have several buckets with no inner lids that won’t take a different lid they might be tough to get the threaded part off.

At $7-$8 a lid kit the $2 cheap lid is looking better but they sun rot also. Once the fur shed is back together this will be less of a problem.

I use them but I grease the top of the bucket, the lid flange that clips to the bucket, and the o-ring. Keeping them out of the sun they last me a long time.

I bought one and put it on my wax sand bucket a month ago, got tired of fighting the snap on lids, and I lost one of them going down the highway somehow. Day after I bought the Gamma lid I seen another brand in the grocery store for about 2/3 the price that looked identical except you can get them in all sorts of colors. I know my dad lost the oring off a Gamma lid, but so far I am really liking mine with no issues yet. But it hasn't seen a lot of sun or real cold weather yet, the two things that tend to seperate quality plastic from the junk stuff.

I have several i have had for over ten years. I store sugar, salt, dried beans rice ect in them.
If your in them often the o ring won't last and if you use the bucket for a step stool the lid will crack.
. I like them for my purpose mostly long term storage foods.

Indoor long term storage is what they are made for really indoors they might last a long time but our season runs 7 months that’s a lot of exposure time. All plastic seems to breakdown in the UV rays over time some faster then others just the lids are not cheap.

I got one that’s been in the back of the truck with my dry dirt in it for several years now with no issues.
