my balance took a nose-dive after Covid. I've had 2 quick episodes of vertigo since having covid. Not sure if related, but I sure as heck do t like that vertigo crap. No warning it's coming...room spinning rapidly...can't stand up. If that hits me in a beaver pond...oh boy...or while driving...or in a public place...

Just wait until hit 80... I carry a 3 feet long metal rod with a hook on one end and a circle on the other end. When I am on a dam, in deeper water or rocky bottom, I have 4 or 5 feet stick in my other hand, so I can keep my balance. At almost 83, I can't see it getting any better... I wish I had a third hand sometimes.
Garry- I'm not looking forward to that Garry, but I hope I can still get out there like you..

I'm 68. Aftermarket left knee, arthritic right knee, right hip and back. Tylenol is part of my breakfast as I'm allergic to NSAIDS. I go slower, use a walking stick when I'm not on level ground. Most of it is still doable, just slower. Just rethink how you do things. Compensate and keep going.

A short regimen of stretching and light calisthenics daily (or thereabouts) helps with balance and coordination. You can be quite active, but loose a lot of flexibility if you don't go there on purpose. But ... I'm only 66

I'm having to force myself to slow down...take my time....be deliberate in my footsteps.
I'm not getting near as much done as I used to.
I don't like it.....feel like I'm dragging...wasting time. Smart. Still getting it done though

Swamp wolf it is not just you. Hurt my right ribs at the start of deer season. Two out of five deer I needed help loading in truck for the first time in my life. Turn 50 in May. Shoot smaller deer, lol!

I think that would help. I'm 68. Aftermarket left knee, arthritic right knee, right hip and back. Tylenol is part of my breakfast as I'm allergic to NSAIDS. I still have all my original parts. But, surgery on both hands a couple years ago...no grip strength, but can still set an MB 750 by hand on my knee...barely.

..can't I walk steadily on the top of a muddy beaver dam, like I used to?
Why do I have to hold on to trees and bushes to keep from falling off the deep side of the dams?
Why do heavy beavers seem much more heavier than they used to?
I'm too young for this to be happening....I'm 59... Quit being a Sheila and fall off the deep already. That will remind your muscles to get with the program and fly right. I've came so close to doing that past several days that it is very noticeable. I've even Googled recently whether my chest waders would drown me or float me... Probably slow you down a little more starting mid season but start doing lunges once your blood pressure is raised enough to get you out of bed. Ease into them but once you have a few days under your belt, do it til it burns.

That is the age the wheels start coming off but a bit early looks like better days and worst days ahead. It hit me around 65 but today it not an issue. So you got thru it LD..and now it's better? I quit sugar worst time in my life it took me a couple years to get back on track my head was messed up poor short term memory, foggy all of the time but that’s way better now even the memory’s better. Back to doing what I did before I’d say I’m 90% back. I start cat trapping next week in the rough country no worries about it. If we get ice I’m done my left shoulder in on the mend from last spring not start the process again it’s 60% better now. If I get up in the morning I’m like a train with a slow start to get moving then no problem from there. I’m 69 and still doing it all with a beat up body.

That is how I got the other three in the truck alone LOL!
I’m with ya and all I had to do was get them on a hitch haul! After the first few momma does I started going for the yearling does! I had one buck I was after and told the manager if I killed it I’m calling for the tractor cause we wasn’t loading it by ourselves! Hoping next season I’ll be back 100%…hip replacement didn’t heal back as quick as I thought.

No more fighting the tail gate trying to drag to deer in!

Patrick, these beavers must be getting bigger and smarter by building steeper and slipperier dams because I’m getting the same thing at age 48. I was thinking that too...but was too ashamed to ask until now...lol
