I still have a couple snares out, and one cubby set. I just left the closest ones.

I am going to give it a few more days and then pull the few sets I have remaining. I am dog sitting next week and want to get the iron out of the woods before they get here.

A squirrel and a shrew today,cat or cats will be tomorrow,maybe a coyote thrown in there too.

Put in two more cat sets in the big track location a semi flashy woods dirt hole and a cubby with a walk through out in front of the cubby,it's a blind walk through.I can't believe he hasn't been back yet,he might of killed a deer and is camped out on it.It's been 10 days since his last visit when he ate about 12 lbs of beaver,he'll be back and I'm ready for his return.

Maybe someone else already caught the big track cat and that's why he hasn't been back.

There's a chance of that,but I don't think anyone is trapping within 7 miles from there,we'll find out if he doesn't show back up

No new sign of cats near the sets I put in last weekend. I am trapping a long a frozen creek bottom. The last couple of days the cats have moved but I cannot find any where they are leaving the ice. There is a few sketchy areas with thin ice I found one of them tonight. Is there a special set I can make on the ice going through cattails and reed canary grass.

One more weasel today. Always exciting to catch those little critters. Talked to a neighbor this even who said he found cat tracks in the back of his property. Planning on checking it out tomorrow but with this warm weather doubt I'll be able to find any tracks. Won't know unless you try!

You can use a 10 to 15' tree,branch as your drag use the drag as your snare support crawl under.They won't go far with that set up,wire your support to the duck stick ,make sure it's soild so you get a good catch as it going into the snare.I've done this a few times or attach your snare to 10 to 12' of chain and a regular drag to your snare,both ways will work.Good luck,I think I can hear the chain rattling on the big track bobcat,might keep me up tonight.

I attach my snare right to a wood pole that serves as both drag and guide stick. They duck under the guide stick and drag it off the ice so they don't get frozen on the ice.

I pulled everything. The only tracks I've seen since Monday were a couple single kittens, and with the snow disappearing and Christmas family functions coming up I decided to give it a break. I scouted other areas looking for one more nice tom but the only track I saw was an old medium sized one. I've put on a lot of miles walking, on four wheeler, and in my truck, and its amazing how many wolf tracks Ive seen, and how few deer tracks Ive seen. Deer are practically non-existent and I've been in some of the best deer habitat you'll ever find. Still only seen one fisher track too. Hopefully we'll get some snow before the season closes, but it sure doesnt look like it any time soon

Goldy and other successful cat guys, are you seeing any appreciable difference in the cats fur this year given the odd warm weather up until now?
