I have been having trouble catching coon on the line lately and was wondering if I could get some tips on how to catch them.( I use dp’s)

If your using a marshmellow on the DP trigger and setting the trap on good coon trails and/or coon sign...and you ain't catching coons...then you don't have any coons...they've left.

A lot depends on where you are, where the food and shelter are, and their rotation cycle. The no snow, 20-40 degree temps we’re experiencing won’t have coon running every night. Ron Jones, who makes his living trapping nuisance animals, says boars come thru every 10-14 days. Sows with young of the year will come thru every 8-11 days. You might be in an area where boars are predominant and you’re either ahead or behind them. Be patient and be on location.

If the coons aren't where you're trapping, move. Find fresh sign and set on it and I bet you'll find success.

Were you catching coons and now not catching coons?
Is there sign where your DP’s are and just not catching?

You’ve either caught all that’s there or there were none in the first place.

I got a farm that I just set there is so much coon sign that there is traffic lights at the intersections of trail but only caught two coons. I am using dps with marshmallow and moonshine lure or dry cat food and night bandit. I know I have not caught the only coons in the woods these trails run to a corn field.

Sometimes those hot trails just stop being hot. The field they're feeding in gets plowed, water freezes, etc., causing them to travel elsewhere.
Also, there is the fact that DPs just don't always produce. Coon will often walk right by them no matter what you use for bait.

What part of Nebraska? I've been finding less coons here in SE Nebraska. Maybe disease finally got to them. There'll be more next year I guess.

Also if I move the trap after a couple or three days my catch stays somewhat up.
May only move twenty feet to another trail.

Interesting. Same here. But don't know if thats a bad thing from a couple years ago.

Guess he started catching or gave up. He hasn’t responded to anyone.
