No chain rattling or drag marks to follow today,did pick up one coyote,I think it had just been caught whammy was still on the support wire and nothing was torn up.One rabbit and another shrew,skunked on the weasels today.Maybe the big track bobcat will be there Christmas morning.

Well, the set that I made yesterday was hit, and he ate about a third of the bait that I hung. BUT, he managed to get by the traps. Had another bait light up last night, no snow for tracks, but i suspect cat with as much as was ate. Tomorrow will be interesting!

Steve, just 100 yards from where you camped, there were 4 grouse standing on the road this morning at sunup.

Nice looking coyote Rick. Here they just about need flippers to get around. This warm weather is changing things fast. Well here is a picture of the scratching post and a picture of the area the cats usually come from.

I was trapping for the State today. It sure is nice to be on good terms with the CO's.



I got wet twice today, once on a pond and the second time on the lake. I was watching rats swimming on the lake where it has opened back up. 45 degrees tomorrow with 1+ inches of rain is going to make the ice REALLY sketchy. I may throw a 100 foot chunk of rope in my pack as insurance.

Yep looked at some spots like that today also. Getting pretty sketchy in area. Not good news near here today. A gentleman was on Big Toad Lake on Friday with an ATV and went through and drowned. Careful on the ice people.

160 nice marten ! A set of ice fishing picks maybe helpful along with that rope .

Bad news for sure,I know they have started ice fishing up here a little,LOTS of thin ice and some open water still on the big lake.I know some of the ditches I have fox,coyote and bobcat snares in there are still open water so those are not producing anything yet,spring hole blind snare sets lol.Have a great night everyone.

That is crazy! I was pheasant hunting in west central MN Wednesday and got a tick. This is late December! Unreal.

When the hiberbaculum gets flooded they have to come out.
160user was it a deer tick or one off the pheasant ?

I have been seeing quite a few deer ticks still. I am checking every evening for ticks the last couple weeks.

Story of my life Jim lol. I saw one today, he's still running around. I didn't hunt much, had to try get everything ran before the holidays. Of course I forgot my waders at home this am. I did get 2 hares and a couple beaver.

Tighten that cat down so the only place he can step is on the trap.

I found ticks on two fox so far this fall.

Mother nature is all screwed up this year,raining now might turn to sleet snow by 2pm,we might not have a white Christmas after all.I'll have to wear my rain jacket on today's check in a few hours.I don't know what to expect on todays check,if cats like to move in this rainy weather,probably hole up,I know I would rather not be out and about.Have a good day and stay dry if you can.
