Those guide rollers are mounted on a shaft that is treaded at the back and has 4 bolts with welded nuts to adjust the angle of caster and allows the blade to be tweaked to be parallel to the bed and track
Yup 330 Mechano is very similar to what you got there. I loved that stuff as a kid ..... I built the model of a go cart out of that when I was about 6 or 7 .. then my grand father built the scaled up model that I could drive around the shipyard with

Lee, I was thinking about having the lumber milled some place. But as I am not sure what I need, decided to go this route as I can as always just make it up as I go along and if there I need a 2x10 or whatever and don't have it at hand, I can just fire up the mill and make one or five. Getting old is not such a bad thing. In my case it fools people into thinking that I am a grown up

If You look closely, the roller I made has a shoulder on the back that the blade runs on. That shoulder is cut at 93 degrees and as the back of the blade is at right angle and the roller having a couple of degrees of tow in , together with the blade tension, it should prevent the blade form riding up on that shoulder. There is a bit of free cut on the front of the roller to allow for the offset of the teeth and a bit in the back before the shoulder to allow for the odd chip that wants to get in there. If this does not work out, I have some rollers made that I can make a bracket for to put behind the existing ones in the style of your picture. The 4 bolts ( you can only see three of them ) behind the roller are there to adjust the angles of the shaft the roller bearings sit on. I know, its only a roller with a couple of sealed bearings in the thing, but I did put some thought into it before I chucked that lump of stainless steel up in the lathe to make it. Its what I mentioned earlier on. Breaking things down into smaller and smaller bits to eat that elephant. I don't watch TV and spend a lot of time thinking about the what if's before I make metal chips and sparks making a part. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/12/full-4076-201491-c53504f3_a3a7_4f1e_9a3f_222727e4a7be_1_201_a.jpeg)

Bob there really is not much to this sort of thing if you take some time to break things down, you invariable arrive at simple problems that have simple solutions. If you look at the whole thing it looks daunting but it really isn't once you get down to the basics. ...... Take the lift for the saw head. You want it to go up and down and be level. If the winches to fast to be accurate. add more pulleys or slow down the motor. Keeping it level is easy done with turn buckles at the end of the wires. Spool the winch line as a double so you have two lines pulling at the same speed. There its easy. For the saw blade, think belt sander. How to you center the belt on that ?? Now apply the same thought process to the saw blade the fabricobble the bits to make that happen. and so on and so forth .... one little problem at a time and the end result is whatever you want it to be, a saw mill, or anything else you ant to build. I am not a machinist or a welder or elecchicken or programmer for Arduino circuitry or carpenter or plum bear. My first apprenticeship was in the UK as a diesel maniac for semi trucks. The back in Germany I did another one as ships maniac. then did my degree in enginerding...... None of that had a lick to do with tractoring or building saw mills. As a ships mechanic you learn little bit of everything. From machining to welding electrickery and hydraulics etc. but it is just basic stuff and that is many moons ago. This is all about solving little problems of a puzzle. If you can't figure out the big problem, break it down until you reach a point where the problems get more but each individual one os not as difficult to solve anymore. You can apply that to most anything you want to do.

I didn’t see the three screws for adjustment on the shaft, I have never seen it done with one bearing and was wondering if there was a specific reason for going that rout, and I do know that adjustment on three rollers is a pain. My line of thought was that the chip volume on a band saw mill is going to be way higher than on a little shop bandsaw. That , and I have to run water for coming the blade. having all but one side open using just one roller, chances are better of not jamming things up with wood chips as I think at that sort of blade speed things would get hot quick and in a hurry. With the angles that I use on that single roller I think it will do what it needs to and allow for the chips to exit the stage to the right unobstructed.

With the pulley combination that I have I can get the blade speed up to around 68 M/ph Yeppers about the QC guy ... ya just cant get the staff these days ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/12/full-4076-201547-801b19f6_2767_452a_a5ac_b784ecc9d027.jpeg)
