Works with chickens and apparently quail are stupid simple to raise so don't see why doing like Thai won't work. Anyone ever try it ?

I've had the same thought Wolfie. I think it would be great. You would certainly add a bunch of omega 3 to the eggs that way.

I would think it would work, I guess I can’t see a downside.

Always thought they are better off raised off of the ground in pens to prevent disease. As a kid my buddies dad raised them on the roof of his body shop in Chicago.

Disease and predators sat to keep em off the ground. Had problems with both snakes and owls. Come summer will be a much tighter cage.

I thought this would have pics of hunters riding John Deere and kubota flushing coveys and toting 28 gauge Belgium brownings.

These are technically off the ground. If you look the bottom is raised up off the ground

I live practically in a city. One day there was a little baby quail in the yard hollering . Next thing there were two, then seven, then twelve, then finally nineteen. I rounded them up for my buddy who had a hobby farm. Never did figure out where they came from. But one nearly drowned in my koi pond and I had to scoop him out.
They sure are cute and lay itty bitty eggs. I would have liked to keep them.

I don't think my tractor is fast enough to catch those things

I cant see much of a benefit to tractoring if you arent raising them on the grass/dirt. Seems like youd just be giving yourself one more chore if you are having to pull it around regularly. I have no experience with quail, but one of the pluses about raising chickens in tractors seems to be that you can avoid some of the disease and pest pressure by frequently putting them in a new spot. My chicken tractor has hardware cloth and we live in the country. Knock on wood nothing has ever tried to get in ours even though we have coons, possums, coyotes, cats, bobcats, foxes, etc using our place regularly. We regularly move both pigs and chickens and I wouldnt have it any other way. keeps smell down and we get free fertilizer. I say go for it and report back
