Just did one of the hardest tasks in life. Had my 14 year old heeler put down this morning.
The last 10 years have very trying to say the least.
Please let explain. Hope my journey helps someone who is overwhelmed and stressed.
2013 - Lost an uncle in November ( retired police chief) to liver cancer. Lots of memories hunting and fishing.
2015 - Lost my Dad and my best friend in February. Got the call at 5am from my brother. I made sure he was laid to rest with full Marine Corp honour.
2018 - Lost my Mom to colon cancer in May. Laid to rest on an Indian Reservation in Montana.
2019 - Lost an aunt in a car accident in February. Like a sister to me.
2019- Involved in a shooting in April. Partner was shot. Suspect was shot as well. Very stressful, recieved no counceling for it. Told to come in next shift and work 14 hours.
2021 - Sought professional counseling due to stress. Not ashamed to admit it. Almost put me 6 feet under. Two weeks later resigned. Money wasn't worth my life.
2023- Daughter diagnosed with cancer in January. Fought like heck. Went into hospice care 3rd week of this month
Still fighting, but, she has won the batlles, but, will lose the war.
2023- Put down my 14 year heeler today.
So, next step will be grieving the loss of our daughter here soon.

So, what i'm saying is . Take care of yourself and cherish love ones and pets close to you.

Everyone has a cross to bear just some are heavier than others. With God's strength you will pull through, you have been through a lot. I will keep you on my prayer list.

Take comfort in knowing your dog lived a great life provided by you. When the time comes another pup is out there in need of the same life.

Life is tough, but it is good.

That is a heavy burden in a relatively short time of succession.
Try not to let it beat you down.Life has a way of delivering some hard knocks,very easy to get down when they are one after another.
But life goes on and bad times do pass,so stay strong and share your burden if you can,things always get better after the tough times.

Life at times can be unbearable as you have experienced SGT. One hasn't walked in your shoes but we see and even feel your pain. Prayers will be said for you and your daughter. Hope the time will come for you to enjoy life again and have another buddy in your life. Hugs.....

I am so sorry. After everything you’ve been through, losing a pet just adds insult to injury. Don’t let anyone make you feel like it is less significant. I lost 4 beloved pets this year and I thought at one point I was going to need hospitalized. I cannot imagine having lost human loved ones in addition. My thoughts are with you. Grief hits harder as I’m getting older, I’ve found. I’m sure that is true for many
