I put up a skunk in early November and it has been hanging in my garage since then...temps in NW Pennsylvania have been chilly, even freezing at times. It looks fine at present, but I am wondering how long I dare let it hang there before tanning? I don't want it to go bad -- it's a beauty of a skunk, however I may want to send other fur to be tanned also and would rather ship all at once, if possible. Is is realistic to think it'll last until March sometime? (Temps should be cold for the most part...freezing up to an occasional 40's)

Thanks for your perspective!

As long as it was well scraped it will keep til march no problem as long as no vermin gets a hold of it.
I keep dried skins in the freezer. They keep for years that way if for some reason you need to keep them that long.

When you put your dried skins in freezer, do you put them in a trash bag or other type container?
