Caught a couple critters this week. It's sure nice getting a little variety on the line.

This is what we use to milk the pelts

I don’t cut the ears out but I do trim fat off skin side, I got one side better than other in this pic.
I also leave nose and whiskers on.
I like to trim lips, legs, butt . Once pelt has tension on it.

They don't get any purtier than that NF. Nice looking tool for cleaning the leather side.

Great pics musty! Love seeing other cage trappers posting on here. Here’s today’s catch. Been on this property for a little over a week, slowly picking away at them.[Linked Image]

TE, ya got those beavers sticking on a wall like Central American lizards! Hats off to you cage trappers.

BTW, I used to run a cage line for nutria during the big $$$ nutria days. It got me into Duck clubs and other places ahead of the foot hold trappers. I ran Tomahawk double entry cages.

I agree with BP you cage trappers earn your keep and I enjoy your photos

Newfox, I like how you added the dowel to your scraper to apply pressure

Well we just got done with two days of rain. My set have all disappeared under flood waters. Hopefully sometime today they'll start appearing once the waters recede. Probably going to get the waders out instead of the hip bolts.

BP hopefully you can get to your sets today and your motors okay now looking forward to your catch report

Dale, I’m with you on this rain, enough already.
BP, slap some bacon on a biscuit, we’re burning daylight.

We could use some of that wet stuff now. River's so low my prop is getting nicely polished by the gravel. Motor is back to OK (I guess) so finished running my line yesterday. 8 beaver (and 2 nutria and 1 coon) out of 16 traps (including the two from my aborted trip the day before).

Today I'm going to run up into the mountains and take a look at the 35 beaver carcasses I left and see if they need any traps around them or not.

Dang, NF I'm sitting here in bed drinking my morning coffee and it's just like what my dad would have said! Thanks! BTW, my mom's birthday today...she'd be 113 if still alive.

Turtle I used to just guess on what water levels would do and move traps accordingly. We've got the NOAA site now so I never have to guess anymore. It's highly accurate. Back in the day I one time had traps underwater for 2 months before I could get them lifted. AN old beaver trapper that trapped the same river once told me always stand up in your boat and tie off those traps as high as you can reach. I never followed that advice though....LOL

Well I found all but two traps this morning. Had just one kit in them. Pulled them. Will pull the other two tomorrow when the water drops more. I'll be looking for some new spots soon. Only one spot left and it's a very long 4 wheeler ride and I'm not sure I want to do it. Maybe leave it for spring

Spent the rest of the morning fleshing and skinning.
Going back out after lunch to the barn and finish up.

I find putting up fur extremely satisfying and therapeutic. Usually after I say this in front of other trappers I get offers for all the therapy I need .....LOL!!!!

This is at work, clients put a restraining order on me, unless he starts chewing on their side of the creek.
I agree with you Dale, there’s no need to get wet hands, I love it in shop.
Mud could you please pm me the details on the western sale, we have a few nice otter, I skin them complete , it would be nice to get a little more out of them..
