Pulled four out of freezer for this weekend, haven’t heard from Gerry today, wasn’t feeling very good when I seen him yesterday.

We pulled out traps from the golf course and the neighboring property. Took 8 beaver out of there, so the owner was very happy.

Just got permission on two new properties that we are checking out tomorrow. If I remember to take some pics I’ll get them posted on here.

Also got permission to set some canine traps on a couple new places but may wait a day or two for the ground to soak up some of this rain we got……

That's a beautiful cat! That pretty big for a civet, or fairly average?

An adult male civet. About average. Thanks for the comment on the kitty, it is actually a fairly nice cat..probably better than the pic shows.

Wow BP those two furs compliment each other. The wife says she'd love a bobcat coat with civet trim now. I told her she may have to wait a while shocked

BP, you run a cat line along the river or are cat baits placed elsewhere? Nice cat and civet.

J, my cat line is up in the mountains far from the river I trap. I had a pretty poor result on this batch of carcasses. Just two cat hits, the rest were either taken by grey fox, ravens or cougars or just tainted bad. Our weather has been unseasonably warm. Normally there would be snow where these carcasses were placed. I missed the second cat. I'm not the greatest land trapper.

Me and Miss Aalaiya went back to a spot we trap earlier. I knew there was probably one adult left and this was a total removal job for a grape farmer. This beaver wouldn't come near a mud pie or castor. Tried just poplar and a little of the bosses food lure and struck out too.

This time we went with the old apple-on-a-stick set and nailed it first night. I've had luck with this set before on stubborn old blanket beaver

Nice Dale, I’ll have to remember that one!

Went to my 2 new properties and it was pretty discouraging. No beaver sign at the one and very little at the other. Did put in 3 beaver sets and 8 muskrat sets but don’t see us being there very long.

Spent the rest of the morning freshening up sets that have been rained on all last week. Now need to start getting some more canine sets out.

Lol, just the apple? No other bait or lure?

I had a few wood chips in my pocket. They're floating. No other lure. Just the apple. I always put the apple up where they can see it. Usually a small bright wild apple.

Used to use the apple on a stick for muskrat when I was a kid. Usually just used a slice of apple rather than the whole thing. Honestly I don't remember it being real successful, seems like I caught the majority of my muskrats in beaver sets. I was a lot better beaver trapper than a muskrat trapper. lol

Good trick Dale, Thanks. Stretcher man is back in action, says he almost feels good. We got 3 off 2 more on, got a real hog to stretch next, pelt is 46” hanging, I’ll take some pics tomorrow.

I used to trap nutria with the apple set. Used to hate it when I caught a beaver because it took me so long to skin and stretch them before I finally got kind of good at it.
