You’re better off being a buyer than a seller on eBay the seller has no protections compared to the what power the buyers have. The thing with EBay you can find stuff that you might not find elsewhere.

I needed a ECU (computer) for one of my mini trucks $1,000+ new for that year $500 rebuilt but not available I found one on EBay for $250 without it my truck would still be sitting or I’d be out $1,000.

Fees and the ones that will swindle you because they can will get old fast you’re not built for EBay but good luck.

I bailed on EBay as a seller many years ago the smash and grab crowd on the East coast might make a profit but the fees defeat the profit. A guys better off using the local web rummage sale group to sell stuff.

Tough to beat the shed for selling trapping stuff.

I had a store for 20 years. Sold arrows. The ebay, pay pal and shipping fees will eat your profit rapidly. Buyers have all the protections. All they need to do is say they didn't get the product and ebay takes the refund from your pay pal account and your out the money and the product. I wouldn't recommend it. I could tell you a few horror stories as the seller. I'd never do it again.

Fees are about 15%. What is killing me is the USPS rates go up sometimes twice a year cutting deeply into profits- and they tack a fee on the shipping which I think is criminal (I know why they do it). I just dont mess with bigger stuff anymore, maybe an occasional chainsaw. It takes a few or more days now for your money to get to your bank since Paypal is now not an option. You run into a nut once in a while but overall the people are bearable.

I tried them all, they all have their pros and cons. What is the smash and grab group in the east? I never heard of that term.

If you use all of their promotional products , fees will be around 22%. If just straight sell around 15%.

Free stuff smash and grab robbery when a large number of thieves go into a store and take all they can quickly. Very low overhead that way.

Why don't you use a cheaper shipper?

I purchase stuff all the time on ebay that has a shipping price.....from that I believe you can charge what you want for shipping but you have to list that charge in the listing.

Speaking of selling on ebay has anyone else been getting postage refunds from the USPS? I've had 3 of them lately. All were on ground advantage packages. Small box, 5x5x5 and under a pound. Last one charged me 6.07 and then a couple days later they refunded me a 1.24. Not complaining really but just don't understand as I think I'm doing everything right when filling out the label. confused

my son recently sold a bow on ebay. They charged the 15 percent not only on the price of the bow but also the shipping cost and the sales tax. What a rip off. So long story short, buy but don't sell

They charge on the shipping because sellers would list items for $3.00 then list $25 shipping to beat the fees when Ebay did not apply to shipping.

Thanks guys, I thought 30% sounded high but anything's possible.
