Has anyone replaced the pans and dogs with rod dogs and pit pans on Bridger #3s? How did it turn out? I’m tired of dealing with bent dogs and adjusting the pan all the time.. I’m either going to replace with pit pans and rod dogs or sell them and buy mb 550s or duke 650s

They make a heavy duty trap dog that Ive put on sleepy creek and some other brands. Custers heavy duty trap dogs are the name of them. I get mine from MTP. They make several different styles depending on the type of trap or jaw style. You have to usually do some trimming to them. I like em.

I've taken a heavy duty dog, a concrete nail, or just a piece of 1/8" mild steel, cut to fit, and welded it to the top of all mine. Works well.

I have over 100 #3 Bridgers with the PIT pans. The pan kits came with a dog with the night latch bump. I also installed the JC Connor lightning four coil kits. They work great! One thing I have to do is put a slight downward bend in the dog to lighten the pan tension.

I can’t speak to the rod dogs. Adjusting pan tension by bending a rod dog might not work?? Just a guess as I haven’t used them.

I put PITs on all my Bridger and Montana #2s. I mainly just hated messing with pan bolts

You can bend the rod dogs but it's harder to do obviously. Not that I've seen the need to do so.

I replaced the dog on some Victor #3 to the rod style for just that reason . Much better .
