trappingwi OP trapper T Joined: Dec 2020 Wi	Good morning. Yesterday I checked a racoon den and it looked pretty active. There's some heavily used trails coming in and out of it. How close to the hole would you set? I'm concerned about having animals seeing other animals in the traps and spooking. I was thinking of setting a few DPs on the trails about 50' from the entrance. Any advice?

Trap Setter trapper Joined: Oct 2014 Eau Claire Wi	My advice would be 160s on the trail. I wouldn't worry about how close to the den if using dps make sure they can't get into the hole. It's pretty tough to pull a coon out that's determined to stay in. Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.
