I happened to be at Farm & Fleet tonight I have a bunch of pairs getting worn thin I am not sure how old they are but probably 2+ years .
so I grabbed 1 pair at 14.00 thinking well I needed more and I just haven't seen a better price all year it can be hard enough just to find XL on the shelf

I got to the register and they rang up 10.50
well that changes things handed my wallet to my wife and ran back for more 6 more pair which only left a few on the shelf in XL

she was looking it up on her phone while waiting for me to get back from the far side of the store thinking if they only had a few we could order them at that price ,you can't see the price till it is in your cart.

I know several people here like these wool blend boot socks , I wear them every day I wear shoes or boots. even in the heat they deal with moisture better than a thin or cotton sock.

I’ve been wearing the Fox River Bilbao merino wool socks daily for many years. They are great socks, comfortable and durable.

Eh...wot?

17% wool isn't enough. Might be a great work sock but not for real cold.

I did run into some clearance socks at Fleet Farm 2 years ago. 65% wool and were marked down on clearance for $1.67. I bought 5 pair. I should have both the rack.

I buy them eight pair at a time. They last me about three years. It took me a couple of hours of searching to find some good deals. I ended up buying from three different vendors because none of them had eight pair in stock.

well, since we're talking socks...

what do you all recommend for summer wear for hot, sweaty feet?

I have worn Fox River for many years. In the last few years my wife got on a email list with the company and gets sale notices from them. A couple years ago they had a heckuva sale on their Rag Wool sock and I stocked up.

I wear the Fox River Bilbao (merino wool) socks all summer long under my work boots. I think the wool does a pretty good job of wicking sweat away.

I think I got the recommendation here on Tman years ago. I thought wool would be way too hot for summer wear but it doesn't seem any hotter, actually a bit cooler than my old heavy cotton work socks.

About the only time I don't wear the Fox River socks is in really cold weather when I switch to heavier wool socks.

Eh...wot?

I am wearing these same socks year round , they seem to deal the best with getting the moisture off the skin.

it never gets real hot here not like south Texas or anything . we get mid 90s in WI not for real long so I try not to do too much for those 3 weeks or so.

there might be something better for hot , I just haven't found it yet and I would be fairly certain it doesn't come in a 6 pack from Hanes or fruit of the loom or similar.
I am not sure why cotton socks get pushed as good for you , strong cotton lobby I suppose.
I had nothing but fungal problems wearing cotton socks in the summer.

Lt. Dan taught me that good socks are important:
"There is an item of GI that can be the difference a live grunt and a dead grunt: socks, cushioned soled OD green, try and keep your feet dry while we're out humping, I want you to remember to change your socks whenever we stop, Vietcong will eat a grunt's feet right off his legs". grin
