crowheart OP trapper C Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 731 wyoming	For you bear hunters, what are some of the biggest claws that you have? This set are a little over 3 3/4 inch and 3/4 wide, was a nice bear. Don't know what to do with them yet.

backroadsarcher trapper B Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 5,505 Frazee, MN	330 that is nice. I took some claws out of my fathers last bear and rubbed some borax on them to help preserve the bone. Might have been a mistake, I cannot separate the claw from the bone. How important is this.

You want the bone core to stay in the claw sheath. The sheath would be way too fragile without the bone inside. Just clean the bone off real good and the claws will last a long time.

I just watched some video saying I needed to remove the bone and clean it then glue the claw back on. Just didn't know how important that is.
