I have a 2018 that I bought new. Every time I start it and put it in drive there is a loud bang at about three miles per hour. I brought it back to the dealership. They were able to duplicate it. I left the truck with them for two days. When I got the call to come pick it up they said the noise was from the a automatic emergency brake check that truck is programmed to perform at each start up. It is normal and not an issue. I said I didn't like and wanted my money back. I still the have truck. It has 17,000 on it. I don't like driving it and never have anybody with me because that noise is embarrassing. But I need a truck sometimes so there is sits. Never again will I buy a toy - ota. I think I would have taken it to a different reputable dealer. Thats not normal, and if it was, they would have explained that the minute you duplicated it for them prior to dropping it off.....no need to diagnose and work on something for two days if it normal....and they would know its normal immediately if all the new Toyotas were doing the same thing. My 07 Tundra is still spoiling me at 200K. Only thing I've done to it is to replace the starter and water pump a couple of years back. I drove 2 Ford pickups into the ground before I got this one and they gave up the ghost before 200K.

Have had in past: 1991 Corolla automatic. Bought with 190k miles on it and drove back and forth to work. Had over 350k on it when I parked it. Overdrive had went out, still got 35+ mpg without OD for the last 40k miles. Sold it to a local kid.
1992 4x4 extended cab with the 3.0 v6 and 5-speed. Bought with 50k miles. Blew head gasket around 80k. Got hot and warped block and heads. Toyota replaced motor under recall. No questions asked. Sold with around 175k on it when a guy offered me my original purchase price for it.
1994 4-runner with 3.0 and automatic. Bought with 50k and sold with 125k. Had head gasket replaced under recall. No issues other than wife decided she needed a minivan to haul the kids around. Dumb move on my part.
Currently have:
2016 Camry with 4 cyl. Bought new. Currently has 211k miles. Zero maintenance so far outside of oil and filters. Drive it a 100 miles daily.
2020 4-runner TRD. Has a little over 50k on it. Sits in garage most days. Wife’s grocery getter.
I am a huge fan of the Toyota products, but if a 3/4 ton or larger truck is required then give me a Duramax.

I sold mine at 420k miles. It was a 2012 tundra. It was great. Looking at the new ones myself. That Tundra had a lot or work done to it. Not one thing was ''wrong '' with it though. When I took it to the dealer for oil changes they would proactively tell me about recalls and then give me a loaner while they worked on the truck. It had all new exhaust, brakes accept for the pads all the way up to the pedal, front 4 wheel drive train re built. All on the factory dime. I took it to both coasts and did some mountain driving. it was my work truck and trapping truck. Had a GMC Sierra next. Lemon and dealer would not fix it, Had a Ford - had probs w/ brakes - you could make a milk shake on the dash when you pulled up to a light, same thing- dealer road with me and said '' what shaking''? Got a Chevy now- I can see where this is going too....so back to looking at Toyota Tundra
Just passin through

if they would just make a 3/4 work truck! I agree, I wish they'd make a 3/4 ton. I bought my Tundra new in 2008. It was the base trim (work truck) had an eight-foot bed and the tow package. It could pull up to 10,800 lbs but was still only a 1/2 ton truck with a GVWR of 7,200 lbs. I used to heck out of that truck, pulled my backhoe and hauled materials with it. A little over a week ago a tree fell on it and totaled it. Insurance offered me $18,000 for it. I'm looking at 2024's, maybe wait and look at 2023 leftovers.

I have a 2018 Tacoma except for the constant alarms, buzzer and squealing alerts it’s a great vehicle. The other bad things about it are the cab is loud, parts are expensive. To get the crawler package I had to get a ton of bells and whistles I did not need.
Good stuff, it starts runs drives fine no problems good MPG unless you’re pulling anything. Traction options like no other crawl control and locking rear end. Law Dog - I somehow managed to turn off some of those buzzers and alarms on my 2023. Don't ask me how, because I'm not sure, but it can be done!

You can turn off the lane departure, and set the frontal crash sensor to low or turn it completely off from the steering wheel controls.

Never had one but just got back from looking at new trucks. They told me at the toyota dealer that it has a lifetime warranty on drivetrain as long as I keep up on all the maintenance. Is this something new or just smoke and mirrors crap ?I have always been a chevy man but they have been haveing trouble with the lifters for years and haven`t really fixed it yet.Never bought a new truck and allways run them to death but not sure what to do with prices being what they are. Biggest problem with the engines, chevy and ram is the cylinder deactivation. To help cut way down on your chevy lifter problem is to change the oil sooner than later. If manual says 5000, change it at 4000. The oil passages are smaller and any gunk that builds up can make the lifters finicky. Clean oil is key.

Just closed the purchase on this 4Runner today. Wife has been after me to )let's get her another vehicle. She had a 2008 Tacoma 2x4...152,000 mi...V6...4-door...we bought new. I told her to sell it locally for more than $10,000 and we'd get a new 4Runner. Dang...she sold it to a local for $10,500. It was valued for trade-in at $7500. She did good!

Are the new Tundras available with a V-8? I was looking at some 2024’s and all I saw available were V-6’s. Granted, the V-6’s had close to the HP and more torque than my current 5.7, but it just seems weird to me.
