This is how I handle a large skin like a wolfhide to make sure there are no problems during the final drying after turning.
First,of course is to make sure it is scraped clean.
Then when I turn the skin,(I use a split board but works on a solid board) I put it back on the board fur out,and adjust the split board to snug up the hide and take out wrinkles. Then I put a few pins in the skirt and legs to hold in place and run 2 one inch dowells up each side of the skin right up to the nose on the back side. This creates an air space between the skin and the board right up past the ears to the nose.
Then I pin the tail on a marten board and place a small fan under the tail board to blow air up inside the skin for a couple hours each day for a couple days. After a couple days the skin will be dry and you can take it off the board.

Nice Boco. Any tips on drying the front legs and feet? I focus on drying them after the hide gets flipped to fur out. I pin them open to marten or mink boards flesh out and stuff the feet a bit with packing paper. It typically takes 3-4 days to dry one with our super high humidity with the help of a fan.

I skin the feet clean and separate the webs, and trim all the fat off the pads with a poultry shears, then stuff them with paper and dry them inside out.
The front legs I pin to heavy cardboard with t-pins,one end of the cardboard up inside the legs from elbow to board and the other end tucked into the foot.I let the skin dry fur in ,in a horizontal position,i also use cardboard cut out to stretch the ears.
Then everything is turned, the toes feet and ears when the skin is turned.I like using cardboard on the front legs since it can be bent to remove, unlike a marten board.
I got a bunch of wolfs in the freezer, next one I do I will take more pics.

Makes sense. I use cardboard in the front leg tubes and to pin the split lips open a bit. Pinning from the split between elbow and foot to the marten/mink boards.

Always interested in how others process the larger hides. Fighting the humidity here can be a challenge. Cardboard and paper, used as described, helps draw a fair bit of the moisture from the more problematic areas of the boarded hide, it seems.

Boco, how much do you usually get for a wolf at the auction?

Depends on the wolf and how its handled.
Large prime clear coloured wolves skinned for taxi go for anywhere from 300 to 600,blacks being the high end last couple years.
I only ship the best to auction,I make much more selling tanned.
I always have orders to fill for tanned wolves. They are in high demand for wallhangers.
Money can be made from damaged ones also if you are a fur sewer.Lots of sq inches on a wolfskin.
