I went into work today for the first time in a while since I work for a rancher and he only needs me to feed cows when he goes away for a day or 2. So today he texted me and asked if I could feed cows and I had nothing going on so of course I said yes since it's always nice to have a little extra spending money. Well, he called me a little while after and told me what I needed to do and mentioned a knife or something and he was driving so I couldn't understand him, so I thought he just meant a knife for cutting the net wrap. Oh boy, was I ever so wrong about that, it ended up being a beautiful handmade Damascus knife with a tooled sheath with my initials on it. This is one of the nicest knives I have seen and would not have ever considered buying one for myself. It's nice to come from a job where I wasn't appreciated that much to a job where things like this happen. This is one of those knives that will rarely get used and when it does, it will be for boxes or cutting up an apple or something like that. Enough ranting, here's the picture of said knife.

Awesome knife. Must be a good worker. I got a knife made by a friend with moose antler I gave him and thought the same “I won’t use it, it’s just too nice.” After sitting on my shelf for 2 years I realized the best thing to do with a gift is to use it. Now it’s my #1 moose skinner.

I guess I'll just need to figure out how to care for Damascus and sharpen it then because I do want to use it but that's the only thing holding me back.
