Might be a little late but I just ordered a 2024 ram 3500 laramie HO cummins with the Aisin transmission. Seems the Aisin has good reviews and wondering what experience you're having with them?

I've got a 6sp manual in my 2016 cummins which has been bullet proof other then the clutch not handling the extra ponies once I def deleted it.

Thanks. It should do the trick. It'll be my 4th cummins. The last 2 I've have/had were good with the manual trans. The first one was good as well but I did have transmission issues with the automatic.

No sir. Don't make them anymore. Only got 2 options. The 6.7 L with the 68rfe ( probably got that wrong) and the 6.7 L HO with the Aisin. Supposedly the Aisin is a Japanese Allison.

The reviews seem to say it's a perfect pairing with the torque the inline 6 puts out.

I don't have much faith in alot of these reviews.

Aisin has provided transmissions for toyota for years...I wouldn't be afraid of them

Was 2016 the last year you could get a manual?

Tactical, I think 2018 was the last year of the manual. If your gonna get one the first thing you'll want to do is go in thru the top of transmission and add a extra quart of oil. When I deleted mine I had to upgrade the clutch to a south bend dual disc because the stock one would slip with the extra 30 hp.

IL you're about $20000 canadian pesos/ruples shy. With our idiot in charge leading the push for electric vehicles I thought I better make a move before petroleum powered vehicles become a unicorn.

The 68rfe is garbage, I own one. I've said I'm going to replace it with a manual and then have been in a hurry needing it the last two times it has went on me and just got it rebuilt because I could get it back faster. Need to just buy me a manual and the parts and replace it while it is good. The aisin is supposed to be better but then they swore the 68rfe was great and stronger than the manual. If you talk to a transmission guy they will still tell you that. But the trucks with manuals go for at least ten grand more than automatics, used. That should tell you something about the demand for them.

I hate automatics in general and the only reason I own one is because I got a great buy on it and my research everybody said how great a transmission it was. Yet everyone I know who has one has had to have it rebuilt, most multiple times. I've had mine done three times and drive like a grandpa.

There are dealers who will put a manual transmission in a brand new truck for you before you pick it up, but it costs you.

All the holes are already in the Rams (I don't know about the brand new ones but 18 and older) they have plates are rubber plugs over the holes for the stick shift and the clutch pedal linkage.

I see, three years ago I wanted to maybe up date to a 2015 ram Cummins
Our friend survived a driver door impact from a semi in his 2015! Blew a stop sign crossing a state hyway
They figured between the side air bags and being a cubby guy is why he survived .
He was extremely close to getting killed.
48 days in the hospital.
I thought side air bags would be good, then I realized the truck prices were 20 thousand dollars higher than they used to be.
Then covid hit and prices went even higher, I'll try to keep my almost rust free '02 running

Tac, I Iove hearing about your yearly updates on the mileage on your 2002...wow! It reminds about Paul's Toyota trucks mileages.

Thanks, since my wife's stroke the miles are adding up slower, I have a bunch of things to fix, just hard to find time for them.
I need to check with a mechanic, the engine is leaking more oil now
