The wife and i along with 2 other couples just booked 10 days in Cancun. Want to do at least 1 day of fishing does anyone have a charter they can recommend?

You will love it. I have not done it myself, but a couple we know, do it at least every year. The go to other areas, besides Cancun also. They just get info from the locals, book it, and go get em.

I went a few times but it was 15-20 years ago. If you are staying at one of the "all inclusive" hotels just ask at the front desk and they will arrange everything. I do remember having to pay $20 for a "license" which consisted of us writing our name in a notebook. We caught fish but I had no idea what kind they were and if they were small or world records for the species. Marlin fishing in Acapulco was a much better time.

I went barracuda fishing in cancun about 32 yrs ago , and it was a blast .

I was just down there a couple weeks ago but ended up not going fishing due to wind and weather . I'm a wussy when the water starts white capping.

I would recommend a trip to the ruins in Tulum and a trip to Xcaret

I normally head straight to the docks, From the pictures I see you posting you know boats and fishing. Watch who brings in fish, who has good equipment and clean boats. I found a captain in another port that way 15 years ago, still go with them. They where painting an old wooden panga, I thought no way. Then they took me to there boat, nice new Yamaha 250 on it, Ok. They picked us up at resort, once on board seemed odd skipper and two deck hands? They worked there buts off. we caught about 50 Mahi Mahi that day. Just some Mexicans that love to fish. Now I beach fish with the manager of the bar at the resort, they tournament fish from the beaches there. Its a Blast.

Thanks for the info and vote of confidence, our guy on the California coast has one of the oldest boats in the harbor, older gear but he's the one everyone else asks for advice.

The wife booked me an excursion fishing trip on one of our cruises, believe it or not we caught a sailfish in that short period of time. And to be honest, it couldn’t have cost much if she booked it through the cruise line, lol. This woman squeezed a penny in her hand and two quarters fell out.
I’d imagine any Captain down there can put you on fish.

My daughter got married in Cancun a year ago. Of coarse the wife and I had to go and book a charter so we brought mai mai dolphin fish for the rehearsal dinner. Boats on both sides of us caught Sailfish. Had a good time both at wedding and fishing.

Would you recommend the boat or guide?

can't remember the name of charter, but the water was rough, we caught fish, but it was so rough that everyone got sick, first and only time that I have ever been seasick, we had all we could do to stand ,

I love fishing in Mexico but Cancun was the worst fishing I have experienced, the fish we were catching were not edible and didn’t fight all that well. We are spoiled though and use to fishing in Cabo for tuna, Dorado, marlin and sailfish
