Barely a scratch shocked
Took a step back to cut more wood my leg went to high. Good thing the chain was almost at idle or.....
Not how I pictured winning the lottery but I'll take it.

Chain saw chaps are a lot cheaper than an ER visit. You got lucky.

One of my brothers has a two inch scar on his upper right arm from a kickback, but he was luckier than an old co-worker of mine who lost about a third of his nose and some bone above his eye which he was lucky enough to keep.

I did the same thing once. Lucky I wasn't hurt. Went and bought some chaps immediately.

Ex son in law came real close to being fired from his job trimming trees out of powerlines. Had taken his chaps off and decided to cut something else without putting them back on.

I have chaps. If for no other reason than to set an example for my 11 and 13 year old who are geting to run the saw when I have a log in good locations not in a bind. It only takes a second to kill or maim yourself.

Was hanging from a rope in my saddle harness working back a 9" limb overhanging a fence. When I put my rope in the fork I tossed it so I would not have to climb as high. Ther was a small limb 4" above the fork my rope went over. Tried to break it with my weight on the rope but it held so I went to work. Well the rope burn through that limb enough for it to break and I droped the 4" I swung my left arm out as I fell and raked my middle and ring finger across the still spinning chain of my saw. I still have my fingers but have nice scars and s a disfigured nail bed on my middle finger.

Point is crap happens and saftey equip is cheap.

Most right handed cutters will cut just above the left knee. Fatigue and taking a step while the chain is still turning are two of the biggest causes. We used to go through a LOT of chaps at work and most were cut in the first or last hour of the day.

I have nothing clever to put here.

My grandfather was a logger all his life. From age 14 until the age of 64. Mostly running a saw. Saw kicked back on him one day and hit him in the shin. 103 stitches to close it up. Get some chaps.

My oldest brother had a kickback, tip of bar came back and took out his front teeth.
Now THAT was a close one...

You are so correct......have one above the knee, on the left and below the knee on the right. And they happened early and late.
