Got to wondering why I never see the Woolrich Malone pants for sale anywhere anymore so I did a little research on it. It’s a dam shame what happened to that company and the town their mills were in. Filson wool pants are bringing $500 these days! And I don’t they’re made in the USA anymore. Maybe Johnson Wool Mills in Vermont still are?

Johnson Woolen Mills are still going strong. I have a pair of their pants and several of their jackets. Top notch. I also have a forty year old pair of Filson pants. Lot of loot but they've held up.

Try eBay. I buy Pendleton wool shirts there. You can find like-new stuff for less than a third of what it costs new.

Everything wool and especially "vintage" wool has been re-discovered. Woolrich, Pendleton, Filson, it is all through the roof and tough to find at a reasonable price, even online. Just a couple years ago old guys couldn't give away much less sell their old but new looking Filson oil coats or the mackinaws. Now? The old stuff is almost the same price as the brand new stuff from Seattle. One reason is that Filson is having some of their products made abroad, Thailand and Bangladesh, I think, and the prior USA-made quality is not there.

Try eBay. You can buy vintage Johnson Woolen Mills jackets for under $50 if you poke around a bit. I own five, three came from eBay.
