If anyone is trapping beaver near FDL, I see there is a guy looking for some for a wild game feed on Facebook.

The weather has been great to get on the river and pick up a few beaver, we each got an otter, also some coon and a muskrat. It is a lot of work, setting, checking, dragging boats over sandbars and packing boats, traps and animals up the hill at the canoe landing and there is still a lot of skinning left to do. There is no shortage of animals along the river, plenty of eagles, geese and king fishers flying around and some wolf tracks. Also, yesterday there was otter tracks where we pulled the boat down to the river. We followed those otter tracks the entire 10 miles of river. He managed to dodge 32 traps. The last set, a 330 on the bottom edge was fired with nothing in it. It appeared that something had been there for awhile but managed to get out. Maybe next time.

Very nice haul Jordan. Congrats.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

That sure looks like a boat load of fun or in your case 2 boat loads! It is great you guys are helping to keep this tradition alive. Sure brings back a lot of memories. Leave 1 or 2 for us old timers. Congrats Jordy and Corey, it's a good time to be a beaver trapper.

Set up a new creek on Wednesday. 8 sets out 2 by my trapping partner 6 by me and yesterday, wouldn't you know it, he got another black beaver. His second of the year, and I struck out. But today in the storm, I won the day finally, picked up 3 and he only got one. First time I've beaten him this season. Feels pretty good lol

(Of course he got the biggest one)

I picked up most of the few traps l had out except for a couple otter sets ahead of the big storm not knowing how much snow we would get. Got another mink, 1 beaver, and 3 more rats putting me at 234 rats so far. Only 15 beaver but just trapping the easy ones. Time to re-energize. I've got a lone beaver that has gone reclusive and I am waiting for some good ice to get to his house. Tight chains everyone!

Tried to drop furs today for FHA but didn't realize it was cancelled until next weekend due to weather. There were 6 or 7 vehicles there to drop fur. So if you are planning to drop fur tomorrow in Wisconsin it is cancelled until next week. I guess it is on the FHA facebook page.

It sounds like the beaver around this part of the state are really taking a beating. Between Ben, Walt and Lance you guys will have them all cleaned out before I get a chance at them. Only 1 this weekend which is OK by me. [Linked Image]

Nice beaver Jordan. I'm no threat on the beaver. Haven't gone after them too hard, just took some problem beaver out. I'm not into chopping a lot of ice now that I'm almost 67, lol.
