Set some weasel boxes and every time you check them you’ll have a mouse!

I know someone that does. They reproduce quickly, so it may be a good hobby for your own use or possibly commercially.

Jerry Lee of Alma, Ga used to raise mice for bait. At the time he owned Wildlife Predator Control and made Slim Pederson's lure line. He sold WPC and stopped making lures, so he may have stopped raising mice. I stopped by to visit with him once and he had hundreds of mice in stacked brooders.

I raised some at one time. The mouse bedding was my go to attractant down a dirt hole. Nothing smells stronger then mouse urine. Then I would put a live mouse In a jar I would place some bedding and a slice of apple In the jar. Of course I would punch some holes In the lid. I figured that a live mouse would give off lots of scent and then fox could probably even hear the mouse down that hole. I caught fox using both systems. But after awhile It just became more work then I wanted to deal with.

You are right as to the mouse urine and fresh feces odor. It is very pungent while fresh and will penetrate any sub Strat in lays upon.

I store my weasel boxes in an area that I know the mice will use. A little corn or bird seed in once in awhile and by fall they reek of mice. Quite often I don't even need to bait.
Raising mice can be profitable if you also tap into the reptile market.

We have so many voles I try to keep the mouse odor out of my boxes. They get into my weasel boxes near too often as it is. Come back to check traps and have the vole eaten that got caught and the weasel got away that visit.

Years ago I was getting into falconry and decided to raise some mice for food. I started with two and 6 months later I had 268. And they do smell!

I saw him at a convention last year and he was still selling mice at that time.
