It's been a favorite thing to do for years. In fact, I look forward to it evey year. Got a few buddies that often have an open tag and when it gets cold and miserable to sit in a tree, we get together and make drives. Gotta go into it and not have the mindset of gun hunting. Drivers go slow n easy. Poster should be in thick cover. A buddy had an open tag last weekend ( 2 days) left of season. I jumped at the chance to make a drive to him. He got this one killed at high noon . Filled his tag for the year. Really can be an effective way to kill a deer. Doing it for 35± years and have seen 100s of deer killed doing so. Deep snow makes it even more effective. They like to travel on trails already established. Just an effective tool to use if sitting in a tree has lost its fun.

We've found it best if the posters set up in thick cover. Deer tend to feel more comfortable their and slow down. Drivers move slow and quite.

Tried it but getting the deer to stop for a shot was hard That was my experience too. Nice buck in the photo, though.
Most in this country have things people in other countries only dream about. Yet, they want America to be more like those other countries.

Have big fun still hunting standing corn late season. Stiff cross wind, hunt across rows.
Speaking of drives, the neighbor is driving the bedding area right now. With his quad.

Ended up doing an impromptu drive for a buddy today. He had an 8 yards shot on a 115" 4x4 but hit it in the gutts. We gave it 4 hours or so and tracked it. Found it dead about 400 yards away. Glad we got an inch of fresh snow last night or the trail would have been difficult. That's it for the year. Was a fun season making drives.

What kind of an idiot would drive deer while bowhunting ? If it’s legal and moral. Go for it!!! It’s legal to feed corn and kill deer in 1 state but not another. It’s legal to drive deer in 1 state but not another. To me. It’s all the same. Don’t care anymore what others do. So why worry about = Someone else’s fun???

What kind of an idiot would drive deer while bowhunting ? Depends on how hard they are pushed. I know a former sotan who goes back for fall hunting. They do drives with bows I think. He's a little odd tho, owns guns votes for Biden!

We set up according to winds and let the wind take walkers scent into the woods and bedding area. Walkers get shots as deer circle and standers often get shots as deer stop to look back into the woods. It is a blast, I guess some idiots couldn't understand it. Nailed it BT. Most years, it just to cold to sit in a stand late season. That and deer are often yarded up near their winter food sources making it tough sneaking into a treestand. .deer are edgy late season. We can usually find a good place to post no matter what way the wind is blowing. Knowing prior habits over the years of what the deer typically do is valuable. We often post on drives in spots we'd never post in while treestand hunting. Kill or no kill, it's just a GREAT time to get buddies together in a group. We don't do that when sitting in our treestand spots.
