The sign is PRICELESS! Well done! I am wondering if it is a Hobble to tying up livestock?

I have nothing clever to put here.

Looks like someone is missing their belt.

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

I'll go with both statements here.

A hobble for pigs so they don't run away while getting castrated.

Also tie to the bulls nose ring to keep them from wandering too far.

Can you explain how a weight was used in a buggy?

I have nothing clever to put here.

"Antique Horse & Buggy Hitching Tether

Predominately used in the 1800's through to the 1900's.
Used to 'hitch' your horse and buggy/carriage/wagon, these weights were often out front of places of business and prominent homes...a form of 'hitching post.rail', only for carriages/buggies and wagons.
They were also some styles of the weights that were carried in the buggies, wagons and carriages as you traveled, ready for use at stops.
Many had numbers in the cast to indicate the weight."

You are all wrong. That is a Rosie O’Donnell belt buckle. It is used like a calf roper would , sling it overhead, then let er rip, to get the belt around that body. The 16’ belt has been shortened by someone, then may have been used as a hobble, or a buggy weight!

Ok, thank you. I guess that is what I was thinking then I mentioned hobbling livestock. A portable hitching post. Got it!

I have nothing clever to put here.

Watch "Gunsmoke". 'Doc Adams' would set one out in front of his buggy horse, when he made house calls. grin
