I have caught them in 160's before, yes but there are better options. You will get a consistent neck catch but otters are STRONG, especially if not in deep water. You will want good swivels.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I have caught a few otters in 160s set at rat crossovers. Puts their lights out quick. I have also caught Otters in 120s set for mink-also puts them down fast. A 220 is the best for targeting otter exclusively under ice.

I've caught around a half dozen otter in single spring DUKE #160's incidentally while trapping for muskrat.
Catches them right behind the ears & dispatches them fast without much if any struggle at all.
That being said, I've never purposely set a #160 with the specific goal of catching an otter.

Same as others, every one that has found it’s way into any 6x6 I have had set have dispatched with little struggle(even on dry land). The challenge is to get them into one constantly. But the very largest one I have taken(and it was very) was with a 160. With the increase of otter numbers over the years I have learned I must secure even 155’s for potential otter.
I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

Worked three times for me but was targeting mink with a string across the triggers

My favorite otter set was 220 in the slide below a dam in the winter time with the trigger in the trail.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
