He noticed 20 bluegill heads and tail all around his lake. He tossed some heads back in and where up on bank this AM. Lake is real low and dont think any dens in small pond. I told him to look for scant pile on top of dam and said shure enough full of fish scales. Trails go to dried up creek with not much water in area. Had coon traps out and no takers. What's best bet for getting taken care of before no more fish.No runs in lake side but thinking 220s in trail coming up dam. We have no experience with this kind of critter.

220’s in the trails and foot holds in the water off set slightly. Set heavy , he could have 4 or 5 coming in at one time.

Is there any sets to use in water with lake looking like 1/2 empty bathtub with no structure. Maybe a dirt hole set at water edge?

Your apt to catch any critter that will work a dirt hole , including an otter . That’s not a bad thing but you could have a trap plugged up with a coon or a coyote when the otters show up . Set heavy .

Cages set in runs as you would for beaver with a 330 work well. Double doors preferred. Use sturdy cages as otter are strong.

Dirthole set at the toilet areas with a skunky lure....no bait. Stake trap well and out of reach of anything solid otter can grab. Use traps with no offset jaws and with strong springs. Dispatch otter next morning.

Illegal to shoot wolves eating cattle in some places, but I bet it’s done.

If you don't want to watch the whole thing, fast forward to about the 7 min mark. I'd be tempted to try that.

In MO we believe in three SSS. Shoot, shovel, and shut up. Are brilliant MDC re introduced otter telling everyone the mainly eat craw fish. Now they can clean out ponds before land owners know what happened.

Lots of people cant seem to help themselves when it comes to trapping. Saw on a georgia trapping fb page a guy posted showing off his first coyote in a cable restraint. Guessing someone tipped him off because its gone now.

A large double door cage trap set in the run worked for me at one lake and a submerged double door cage baited with a fish carcass worked at another.
Maybe I was just lucky but it worked

You ever wondered if there were any game wardens on Tman? There probably isn't....no worries....lol

But, there are young trappers that hopefully won't violate the law because they saw it on Tman.

There are Game wardens on this site. I have met one personally. They are typically just normal folks doing their job.

Problem is not the officers, it's the laws they are given to enforce. Re-introduction of otters in MO was a bad idea from the get go.......one guys idea they ran with. Cute little buggers who were going to stay in the creeks and graze on crawfish, bullheads and green sunfish. They didn't and property owners are now stuck with the consequences. A guy spends thousands to build a pond, stocks it with fish, feeds the fish........and then one day sees all that wiped out by a 40 pound weasel.

We knew there was going to be trouble when about 2 years after they cut em loose, aunt and uncle woke one day to find an otter doing laps in their swimming pool. That was half a mile from the nearest creek.
